Rosemary has been studied and scientifically proven as an effective natural ingredient for promotion of hair growth.
Androgenic alopecia is the most common cause of hair loss in both women and men. The most widely used topical agent in the fight against hair loss is minoxidil - the active ingredient of hair regrowth preparations - Regaine, Rogaine.
A 2015 randomized controlled trial tested standard treatment with the preparation versus rosemary oil. Half of the 100 participants used rosemary lotion twice a day, while the other half used a 2% minoxidil solution in the same way. After 6 months of this treatment, the patients were evaluated by two dermatologists.
It was found: The Rosemary oil group had significantly better results - a greater increase in new hair growth, a significant reduction in hair loss and fewer side effects. The positive results were attributed to the fact that Rosemary relaxes the muscles and thus promotes better blood flow to the follicles in combination with its antioxidant properties.

Positive results were also observed in the 2012 trial, in which a mixture of different essential oils, including rosemary, in organic oils was successfully used for the treatment of another type of alopecia. The improvement was rated as significant.
Conclusions: The results show that natural oil blends and aromatherapy are safe and effective in the treatment of alopecia. In addition, treatment with essential oils has been shown to be significantly more effective than scalp treatment with carrier oils alone.
Studies proved that this alternative therapy can be used as a successful method for promoting hair growth and preventing hair loss.
Recommendation (based on research data): Applying rosemary oil 2 times a day to critical areas of the scalp has the same effect in promoting hair growth as using the hair growth product 2% Minoxidil.
