How to use Castor Oil for Hair

Use as a 20-minute treatment: To use, warm the oil in your palms before working it through the roots of your hair and brushing it out toward the ends. Leave it in for 15 to 20 minutes minimum, and then shampoo it out of your hair. You can wet your hair beforehand in order to make the oil soak in better.

How to Use Castor Oil on Eyebrows and Lashes

      1. To apply castor oil to your eyelashes, make sure they're completely clean and free of makeup.

      2. Dip a cotton swab into a small amount of oil, close your eyes, and gently swipe the oil across your lashes, being mindful that it doesn't get in your eyes.

      3. Try the same technique for brows, applying the oil with a cotton swab and using a tissue to ensure it doesn't go beyond the brow line, into your eyes.

Castor Oil - How It Helps Your Skin

Skin Moisturizing - Ricinoleic acid is a powerful moisturizer that penetrates deep into the skin layers, helping to maintain skin health. It provides a softening and protective barrier.

Anti-inflammatory - Ricinoleic acid has strong anti-inflammatory properties that have been proven in studies (such as reducing swelling and relieving pain). Helps reduce inflammation and pain, which can be helpful in conditions such as psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis (for topical use).

Antimicrobial and Antifungal - Helps fight bacterial and fungal overgrowth, supporting healthy skin flora. Castor oil is useful in treating acne (which is often caused by bacterial overgrowth).

Wound Healing - Castor oil has wound healing properties. It promotes tissue growth, creating a protective barrier against infection.

Castor Oil - How it helps your hair and scalp

Conditioning and Shine - Castor oil's thick, viscous texture helps lubricate the hair shaft, increasing elasticity, moisturizing and reducing breakage, giving it a natural shine.

Scalp Health - Thanks to its fatty acids, it moisturizes dry and irritated scalps. Its antimicrobial properties can help reduce dandruff.

Hair Regrowth - It has stimulating and regenerating effects (longer, softer and thicker hair). Castor oil is useful for conditioning hair and preventing breakage due to its moisturizing properties.

Possible Side Effects: Castor oil may cause skin irritation in some people. When used on long hair, its high viscosity can cause acute hair felting, where hair becomes tangled into a hard, mat-like mass that usually needs to be cut out.

      Castor Oil Usage Tips

On skin irritations and scars - Apply a drop directly to small irritations, scars or dry patches (elbows, heels). You can cover it with a bandage to increase absorption. This helps reduce redness and irritation.

For wrinkles around the eyes and mouth - Apply a microscopic drop (using a cotton swab or fingertip) directly to the wrinkle areas. This helps smooth out fine lines, providing intense hydration.

For skin hydration - Castor oil is rarely used pure on the entire face. Mix it in a 1:3 ratio with a lighter oil (such as almond, jojoba or grapeseed oil). Apply a very small amount to clean, slightly damp skin. Castor oil is more suitable for very dry, rough skin or as a spot treatment. Best used in the evening due to its thickness.

Scalp Treatments - Mix castor oil with a lighter oil (such as coconut, avocado or olive oil) in a ratio of 1:4 or 1:5. Massage the mixture into the scalp only. Leave for 30 minutes to 2 hours. This improves scalp health and hydration. Use no more than 2 times a week.

Hair Conditioning - To reduce hair dryness and breakage, apply just a few drops of pure castor oil or a blend of both in the palms of your hands and spread it only on the ends or strands of your hair (not the roots). This will provide shine and lubrication. VERY IMPORTANT: Apply sparingly to avoid over-burdening and tangling your hair.

Eyelash and Eyebrow Care - Using a clean mascara brush or cotton swab, apply a very small amount of pure castor oil to your eyelashes and/or eyebrows before bed. The oil can help make them stronger and thicker. Be careful not to get the oil in your eyes.

Test: Before first use, apply a small amount to a small area of skin (such as behind the ear or on the inside of the elbow) to make sure there is no allergic reaction.

Washing out of hair: To wash out castor oil from hair, you can first apply conditioner to dry, oily hair, massage it in, and only then use shampoo. This helps to emulsify the oil and makes it easier to wash out.
